Summary:

This movie tells the story of an 18-year old orphan from the slums in Mumbai, Jamal Malik, who participated in a contest "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" in India.

He is just one question away to win a staggering 20 million rupees when he is accused of cheating and taken away for interrogation because they don't believe a boy who grew up in the slums can know so much.

After some torturing and protesting that he knows the answers, he tells the story of his life to the police officer to explain how he knows the answers.

Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost.



Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions.

Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?

Why no new post lately...

Sorry folks, for not posting much lately. I have just finished my semester 1 exam like a month ago but I haven't posted anything much either. Guess I was too happy so I kept playing computer games and watch TV shows, hehe.

After the long exam, it was Chinese New Year!!! And also not the end of my stress... During that time, I gotta do last minute spring cleaning and help up in baking cookies and cakes. There's one cake I made all by myself, that is the Rich Chocolate Nut Cake.

Ya, ya, the nuts seemed uneven. I'm still an amateur at baking, hehe. It's a flourless chocolate cake with brandy. It's that kind of cake people only eat at tea time or as a dessert after lunch or dinner. After baking it, I brought some to my uncle's house for reunion dinner. Luckily I did, there's no dessert available there beside my cake. Everybody love it and finished it that night.

On the second day of CNY, we went back to my mom's hometown in Sitiawan. We celebrated CNY as well as my mom's uncle's birthday. We went to a restaurant to celebrate. They booked like 10 dishes for every table! We ate until we can hardly move! Lol! It was a nice trip though, I got many ang pows! Muahahaha!

Then, was just visiting, visiting and visiting. Went to friends' and relatives' houses for party a few times till college starts again.

During the CNY I've watched two great series. One is a famous Japanese drama, One Litre of Tears and the other one is Kyou Kara Maoh! or rather known as God(?) Save the King!

One Litre of Tears or One Litre no Namida is an adapatation of the diary of a Japanese girl named Aya Kitō, who suffered from spinocerebellar ataxia. Throughout the series is about how she cope with her illness. Despite knowing she's going to die one day, she did not lose all the will to live. She got the illness when she was 15 and her life ended when she was 25. This is a very sad and touching true story.

Kyou Kara Maoh!, on the other hand, is a funny anime series about a boy named, Shibuya Yuuri who got flushed into the other world when he tried to save a boy from the bullies but ended up getting his head shoved and flushed into the toilet bowl by the bullies instead. Lol.

In the other world, he found himself being hail as the next Maoh or Demon King of Shin Makoku. He later began to learn that the demons, called Mazoku in the series, do not live in peace with the humans. He was reluctant to be the Maoh at first but later agrees to it and try to bring peace between the humans and Mazoku. Throughout the series, Yuuri always ended up in hilarious situations such as accidentally got himself engaged to a boy, Wolfram, when he slapped him. In the Mazoku's custom, slapping someone is asking that someone for his or her hand in marriage, LOL! If you like comedy/adventure/shounen-ai genre then you'll enjoy this series :)

My favourite character in this series is Conrad Weller. He's the most handsome guy in the series without looking too girly or act too wimpish. There are many male characters in this series that look either too girly or act too wimpish. Even the main character, Yuuri can act very wimpish sometimes. Lol.

Anime Review: One Piece TV Special - Romance Dawn

This TV Special, Romance Dawn, is the anime remake that retells the story of Romance Dawn V.1. This remake occurs after the Thriller Bark Arc and before the Sabaody Archipelago arc in the anime series. As such, all 9 members of the Straw Hat crew are present, as oppose to the original story, which only featured Luffy. It was released on November 24, 2008.

In this TV special, the Straw Hat Crew run out of provisions, so they send Luffy off to search for food to replenish their own food stocks. He encounters a girl named Silk, who has mistaken Luffy as a pirate from Crescent-Moon Galley's crew. Galley has threatened her town and Luffy promises Silk that he'll help her defeat him.

Tired Tuesday...

Woke up at 6.30am on tuesday morning this week, feeling groggy and extremely sleepy because of the unfitful sleep yesterday night after viewing a very revolting photo. Ugggghhhh!! Really gave me nightmares.

Then, ate breakfast and took my puppy to the vet for vaccination. We were the first to arrive and took the first number. Poor Katie had to be left in the cage outside the waiting room because no dogs are allowed in the waiting room. I was reluctant to leave her alone outside in the cage for this was the first visit to the vet for her and she's still a puppy and may end up freaked up in a unknown place. My parents say its fine but later, my fears were right.

She was curled up in the far corner of her cage. She wasn't noisy and didn't even attempt to nip me when I pet her the whole time she was outside. She did that a lot when we're at home, LOL.

Her fears worsen when someone brought a big white Spitz and place it in the cage opposite her. The silly dog kept barking at my dog. She barks back in self defence but backing up to the cage's far wall. I told her 'No', she stopped barking and look up at me while the other dog kept barking at her.

We still have to leave her out there for about 20 minutes before the counter open and patients can start to see the vet. After filling in some forms, we get to see the vet at 9 am.

Poor Katie was scared stiff. She was trembling all over when we place her on the table for the vet to examine her. The vet, a man around his 20s, took her temperature and said it was kind of high. So he said he will take her temperature later she had calmed down. We weighed her first then.

We pet and stroke her back the whole time to calm her down. She lie down like a Sphinx and curled up against me while I tried to calm her. After a few minutes, the vet took her temperature again and said it's okay now to give the injection.

After she had been vaccinated, we went home. Katie was back to her usual self when we reached home.

I ate a packet of nasi lemak. Then tried to study my m'sian notes for my exam next week. But it was so boring and I was tired so I ended up felling asleep twice on the table. The 3rd time I decided to go to sleep till 3 pm.

After that, got up and read a novel till 5 pm. Then went for a walk in the park near my home.

Then, came back and watch America's Funniest Home Videos at 7.30 pm before dinner.

After dinner went back to studying M'sian studies notes. But it was SO BORING!!! I ended up unable to concentrate and couldn't remember much.

Later went online for a while then went to sleep till the next morning.

Dog Talk: Katie

Katie

This is Katie, my three month old energetic, playful, destructive, glutton and noisy puppy. She's just three months old and her size is this big already. She's so big that makes us forget that she's just three months old! Lol! She grows from a puny and fragile pup in the pic below to a more than one foot long pup above in just three months.

She's a mongrel which I suspect that is a cross between a German Shephard dog and another mongrel dog of unknown ancestry. I didn't get to see her parents when I went to Petaling Jaya, Selangor near 1 Utama to get her so I don't know for sure whether my suspicion was correct. She's big boned. Black and tan in colour and has some black on the muzzle. She has a black saddle on her back like that of a western German kind of German Shephard dog. All these are the common physical traits of a GSD.

Her owners didn't want to let us go to their house to choose the puppies but instead chose to take the whole litter of puppies to 1 Utama for us to pick instead. I guess they didn't want us to find out one of her parent is a GSD because many people won't want if they knew she got GSD blood.
Her owners were desparate to give away the puppies. She hasn't weaned yet when we got her home. If you buy puppies from breeders, they usually let you take the pup home after it has weaned.

Anyway, I'm not bothered much if she actually has GSD blood in her although my parents are worried about it. They're afraid that she'll grow up to be too fierce that can even bite her own owners. Yeah, yeah, I know there's many people out there thinks the same too. Remember this; GSDs don't take kindly to beatings and abuse. If you don't practice these two, and give it the attention it needs and socialise it properly, you'll be fine. It only turn against you if you abuse it and make it feel it's time to defend itself. They're highly intelligent dogs so they're not for everybody.

Well, I like my dog the way she is although many people have negative comments about her alsation heritage. I like it more that she has alsation heritage which gives her intelligence, alertness and obedience. She's easy to train and obedient. In just two months she already know how to sit on command, shake hand, heel on a leash, and play fetch.

She's wild and extremely energetic. She's like active throughout the day! She sleeps very little and is always ready to play. Lol!
